AstroTech Returning Experience

We are looking for AstroTech alumni to participate in a returning experience within AstroTech. AstroTech for ‘returners’ are participants who have already completed one summer of AstroTech summer school. We are especially interested in alumni that come with a desire to learn more about all aspects of AstroTech (scientific, technical, inclusive teamwork, etc.), and are enthusiastic about piloting and helping to shape future AstroTechs.

AstroTech returners say that the experience is even better the second time around. It helped them to deepen their understanding of instrument design and construction, strengthen their friendships with the instructors and other alumni, and provided them with the opportunity to meet another cohort of students interested in instrumentation.

Alumni who are interested in returning to AstroTech come back to summer school:

    • To learn more about astronomical instrumentation, content and skills
    • To stay involved in the AstroTech community
    • To take on a new role at AstroTech summer school experience

Returning AstroTech alumni will participate in many of the same sessions as first-year participants. Most AstroTech sessions are structured in a way that participants with a proactive mindset will be able to gain new insights even a second time around. New sessions may be developed for returning students. Returners are not expected to be team “leaders”.

How to Apply

Returners have a different application than new participants. Details on eligibility and requirements can be found on the How to Apply page.

Criteria for Selection of Returners:
